You may have heard on the news about the vicious ransomware known as Game Over Zeus (GOZ) and Cryptolocker. This malware bypasses antivirus and runs silently stealing usernames and passwords then when it’s done it encrypts all personal data and holds you to ransom.
Goverment agencies are urging people to tighten security but, no one has given any specific instructions…

250,000+ PC’s were hit by Cryptolocker (GOZ predecessor) earlier this year. Hackers are using good old fashioned social engineering to spoof/frighten users into opening infected links and attachments.
FBI and UK NCA say the Russian hacker Bogachev is still at large – so similar attacks are imminent.

My mum’s PC got hit by Crypto last year – luckily she had no valuable data – yet still I had to spend a day resetting software and changing passwords – It’s the nastiest malware I’ve come across to date and wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
