Men with Big Sticks

When I set this blog up I had some wacky idea about posting to it everyday!

My wife always tells me I’m too damned optimistic, it’s tuff finding enough time to post once a week, but at least I have more to write about this way..

This weekend I discovered that you should never mess with men on horse back who have big sticks..

As it’s my son’s birthday this week (on the same day as mine), we went to Warwick Castle on Sunday to watch the jousting. Not a bad show, but it would have been more enjoyable if there had been slightly less people, it was difficult to see a lot stood behind the rather large crowd watching.

I think I only got a couple of photos that didn’t have the backs of other peoples heads in..

Warwick Castle also has some other cools stuff, like being able to put the kids in the stocks..

of course they insisted Ira and I have a turn as well..

She is actually smiling, honest! :)

While I’m on the subject of horses, anybody who knows me probably realises my sister’s the “horsey” person in the family, and she actually persuaded me to go riding with my kids a few weeks back.

Having not been on a horse since I was about 6 or 7 years old, I assumed she give me a nice little horse for my first outing, but no, not my sis..

She decided to give me a horse that was 17 hands, I had to use a stool to get on the damned thing!!

The kids and her couldn’t stop laughing..

An hour later, having managed to keep up with the kids when they did a bit of trotting to show off, and not fall off, the horse and I were good friends. Although Tracey did look at me strange for talking it all the while.

I’m even considering going again and getting some lessons, if only to keep up with my kids next time..

Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
