After dropping off the “X2B” (ex-wife to be) at work the other morning, as I needed the car, I decided to drop in to Tesco’s to pick up some vital supplies and treat myself to a fried breakfast, as it’s so damned cheap in Tesco’s.

when I got to the cuttlery and condiments bit to grab a knife and fork I was a little surprised to find that there were only plastic knives..

The forks and spoons were all metal, as usual, but not the knives..

So I popped back to the cashier to ask if I could get a metal knife.

Nope.

Apparently they’ve all been stolen and her boss won’t let her order more.

My first thought was to wonder who would want so many knives, and what the heck for.

My second was at the apparent hypocrisy of Tesco’s, they’re apparently making big efforts to “go green” by trying to persuade people to use less plastic bags for their shopping, but at the same time would prefer to waste more plastic by providing plastic knives instead of metal ones just to save them a few quid..

I wonder if the tabloids would find that interesting…
:)
