so much water and no water to use…
If you’ve seen the news you’ve probably seen something about the little bit of water we’ve had here the last few days.
Here’s a photo of what it was like when I as heading home on friday afternoon, before it got really bad:

and it did get quite bad.
We were ok as our house isn’t in a low area, although Ira was stuck in her office until almost midnight as where she works was totally cut off for hours.
There’s a lot of poeple and businesses who have been totally flooded out and have got real problems, so I’m very glad I work from home and didn’t get flooded out.

My Grandma on my mum’s side is 90 years old today which I think is wicked, and the way she’s going I reckon she could do another 90 years!
so Happy Birthday Gran!!
I guess I’m getting older, seems like I’m becoming a bit of a grumpy old man and starting to complain about stuff a lot more…
Ira and I spent the day at Blenheim Palace today and although it was quite a nice day out I won’t be going again.
Why?

Our cat has decided his nice comfy cat basket doesn’t have a good enough view, or perhaps he just likes to be the center of attention…

What you can’t see is that he’s sitting on top of some apples and oranges, so it can’t be as comfy as it looks!
While I was resizing this photo to post here, I found a couple of old one’s that I was going to post ages ago and forgot.
First is something I’d never seen before. We were in Cardiff one afternoon last year and saw a Swan attacking another swan…

Busy, busy, busy…
Having finally managed to get my new “IM” (internet marketing) info product launched last week I thought I’d take a little time to get out and get some fresh air, so Ira and I went for a bit of drive in the country and ended up at some Rococo gardens that were really quite pretty.
Of course, I was more interested in the the pond full of greater crested newts (which are still pretty rare in the UK).
Ira just couldn’t understand my fascination for these strange little amphibians and was even more surprised that every other bloke that came across the pond was stopping and peering in to the pond in fascination, and all the other girlfriends and wive’s were having to drag their blokes away to look at the pretty gardens instead..

I don’t read as much as I used to, I never seem to find enough time, so when I do find some time to read I tend to choose something that’s a littel mind stretching, rather than mind numbing (I watch Neighbours at lunch time for that).
In the process of trying to find “enlightening” books to read, I’ve ended up reading quite a few that were hard work and didn’t make much of a diffeence to my life or the way I view the world, but there were a few that were worth reading more than once..
So here are the best books I’ve read over the last few years: –

after so many posts last month I guess it’s not a surprise that I’ve been quieter this month..
although that’s probably mostly because I’ve been working hard to finish of my own IM (internet marketing) prooduct [www.lazygitmarketing.com], which I will be launching shortly.
and I’ve been away for a week skiing in Austria with my kids and my mother.

LOL!
Since I set up this personal blog I’ve seldom managed to post more than once a month, until this month, now this will be the fourth post for Feb, I must be getting in to this blogging thing..
So what’s prompted yet another post?
Well, I’m feeling a little tender today.
Irina had her Circuit Training Exam yesterday and I “volunteered” to be one of her “clients”, which also involved taking part in other peoples exams as well.
The exam was basically a 45 minute circuit training session and I haven’t been to the gym in six months so I was dreading it as I’m more than a little out of shape at the moment..
This is a preview of
Four posts in one month!?! What’s going on…

Hmm, time for a catch up, it’s been a busy couple of weeks, when is it not..
Last week my sister got back from a month “Down Under” visiting freinds, so we had a night catching up on things and looking through her photos. She’s got a swanky new digital camera, seems everyone’s got one nowadays and mine’s looking a bit old in the tooth, my wife’s mobile phone takes better pictures than my old digi cam..
Anyway, as Tag hasn’t totally got to grips with her blog yet (traceygarrett.co.uk) I thought I’d upload a couple of her photos here.

Hmm, I suppose I should mention something about Xmas and New year..
it was mad, as usual.
Just before Xmas our friends Chris and Irina were over from Kazakhstan, so we had a cool night with them, tucking in to good old british fish and chips, but with a few vodka’s.
We had Xmas Lunch with my parents, my aunt & uncle and my Gran, who is 90 this year and doesn’t look a day over 70!
Then there was my sisters 40th birthday party on the 29th, which really was mad and a LOT of fun. She still parties like she’s 18, as do most of her friends, so I still had a hangover on New Years Eve, which was ok as I spent it with my kids.

If you’ve been here before, you’ve seen how well my Cacti are doing, but I thought I should probably reveal why that was such a surprise for me..
I’m not particularly “green fingered”, I manage to do a bit of gardening now and then, mostly when it REALLY needs it, I even cheat by getting my kids to mow the lawn for me, and when it comes to indoor plants, I’m just not good.
Don’t get me wrong, I like house plants, especially Bonsai Trees, it’s just that they don’t seem to like me.
I’ve even made the effort to read a couple of books about looking after Bondai Trees, but to no avail.
Let me show you what I mean.
