Internet Marketing Meets Life…

«     »

I can’t hide it anymore, I am getting old, and it’s not just trying to hide the grey hair by dying it blond, there are other disturbing symptoms too..

symptom 1.

Tonight I’m sat here in the semi darkness with most of the lights in the house switched off and the curtains drawn, like some grumpy old git, so that I don’t have to go an answer the door bell every five minutes to the latest bunch of trick or treaters looking for some goodies..

and it’s not just because I forget to buy any candy, as always, but more because I’m not keen to be standing on my own door step telling a bunch of 15 and 16 year olds “no, they can’t have cash instead”.

So instead here I sit, hiding in my own house from a bunch of kids.

ain’t life silly.

symptom 2.

I now prefer to visit pubs and clubs where the music isn’t too loud, so that I can site and talk with people, rather than pubs and clubs that have the music so loud you can’t hear yourself think, let alone hold a conversation. I’m even starting to sound like an old git.

symptom 3.

Whilst I do enjoy a good fireworks display, I now get irritated by people constantly letting off fireworks..

I know it’s that time of the year, but it seems I live in an area where everyone wants to have their own fireworks display and at any time of the day or night, it’s a little distracting.

I suppose at some point over the last few years I finally started growing up, long past time many would say..

Perhaps age is also why I keep losing track of time [see previous post], although I prefer to believe that it’s because I enjoy what I do so much that hours can seem like minutes some times.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t make a living off the net just because it’s fun, a lot of the time it isn’t, but also because it allows me a certain degree of freedom to work when I want to and not to have to answer to a boss.

The flip side of that is that as your own boss, you often end up working longer and harder, partly because you’ve got no saftey net of a paycheck at the end of the month to fall back on, and partly because when it does go well you get to keep the fruits of your labor all to yourself, well, after the Government takes it’s 40-50% cut in taxes that is..

So I guess that makes me a grumpy old git who works too hard, now if only I had someone to whine to about how hard i have to work I’d feel complete!

Whinge over for the day, enjoy Halloween!

sympton 1 – I feel the same, but try to avoid the chavs demanding ‘treats’ by going and having a drink
sympton 2 – completely true – it is still nice to hear some music sometimes, that you haven’t cued up yourself at home, but I find myself getting peeved if the ‘background’ music in a pub or restaurant is too loud to talk over comfortably, let alone in a bar where you need to resort to sign language…
sympton 3 – yep, you are getting old ;-P
