Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Review

Gemma’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1″ Review

I rather enjoyed Harry Potter, as it has been better than all of the others, however I don’t think it has been as good as some of the other films I have watched recently.

I didn’t enjoy it as much, because it was split into two halves, and a lot more of the book was missed out in the film, making it less enjoyable.

The effects were good, even though they were used quite a bit, as there was quite a lot going on.

The majority of the film was just story, leading up to fights, which I found quite boring.

I’m not sure I would want to go back and watch the film again in a rush, but I would love to see the second part as it should sum up this one, and will hopefully be better.

I give this film at 6/ 10.

Sam’s Review of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1″

The movie kept me entertained all the way through with its stunning animations and brilliant action scenes.

It had a much darker plot than earlier movies in the series but retained the same great standard of acting.

The ending really draws you in for the next movie, I’m definitely looking forward to part 2!

This Harry Potter movie had action scenes all the way through, including an amazing fight scene very near the beginning with several characters dieing and a very inventive ‘gun fight’ styled scene in a cafe.

There’s also a brilliant action scene at the end where it seems as if all is lost, but Harry’s short house elf shaped friend manages to save the day.

The final death at the end was very sad and brought a tear to many peoples eyes (although I found the scene to be quite humorous and I laughed) :)

Rating – 8/10

Matt’s review of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1″

it is getting strange with movies nowadays that you’re so used to the effects being good and looking realistic that you just expect it, but somehow this one still manages to look fresh and have great effects, the chase scene through the woods was very well done, and the brusining to Harry’s face seemed particularly well done!

There weren’t any real suprises or twists in the plotline (and no, I’d not read the book). Ron buggering off for a while wasn’t much of a twist as you knew it was just a matter of timing for him to pop back up, and obviously it was a very “useful” time when he did, perhaps a little too predictible, but still fairly well done.

There seemed to be more “ooh” and “ah”‘s from the audience from Harry going in to the icy cold water than the snake attack, lol!

Ron dissappearance did give the opportunity for an excellent comedy moment in Harry trying to dance, and then once he was back Hermiony torturing him for having left.

These actors are now very good at playing the roles, but then they have been doing the same roles so long they’re very comforatble with the characters and it probably doesn’t feel much like acting… and the dynamics between the characters does work!

There were also some great moments in their visit to the ministry of magic, both action and humor. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable movie, the 2 hours passed a lot quicker than I expected and I’m really looking forward to the last one…

Rating – 8/10

I Am Number Four Movie Review

Gemma’s “I am Number Four” Review

I am Number Four is, in my opinion, a great film.

It is very much like Jumper in the way that it has been done, but it has more of superhero tint on the main characters, especially with the whole good versus evil plot.

The effects in it are brilliant, and a lot more believable than in many other recent films.

The main character in it is Alex Pettyfer, who has been in several teen films such as Wildchild, but he is not my favorite character.

I think Timothy Olyphant and Dianna Agron play their parts very well, and I was heartbroken when Henri (Timothy) died around the half way mark.

The film seemed to have most of the action at the end of the film, with the beginning just being a story and build-up to the fight.

Bits of romance were also intertwined to entertain a wider audience.

I will be thrilled to go and watch if a sequel is made, although I doubt it will be as good as this one is. I will definitely be buying this to add to my DVD collection when it comes out.

I would rate this at about 8/10.

Sam’s Review of “I am number Four”

The film is about nine young children who have fled their planet with their guardians to escape a race of bloodthirsty murderers who are attempting to exterminate all the planets inhabitants.

The nine children arrive on Earth and must go into hiding to avoid being butchered by vicious assassins from the race that destroyed their planet.

Years pass and three of the nine have been killed, the film’s main character John Smith, is targeted as the fourth.

He and his guardian Henri travel from town to town avoiding the assassins but its not long before they catch up.

In the current town called Paradise John falls in love and decides that he wont run any more, he will stand and fight.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film as it had fantastic animations, a good plot line and had just the right amount of action. I’d definitely recommend it and I hope there’s a sequel. :)

Rating – 8/10

Matt’s review of  “I Am Number Four”

If you enjoyed Jumper you’re going to love this, there’s a very similar feel to it.

John Smith, the main character, is an alien on the run and hiding from other aliens who destroyed his home world, now I know that sounds kind of a “cliche” crappy story line, but don’t worry, it doesn’t get in the way…

The movie does take a while to get going, as the relationship builds up between “John” and his love interest when he moves to another new school, and there’s some rather predictable school kid dynamics (the outcast geek being picked on by the jocks) to get through, not helped by the love interest coincidentally being the jock’s ex, so bringing obvious conflict to a head, giving John the ideal opportunity to try out his newly emerged powers…

So yeah, a bit predictable, but still great to watch and nicely done.

The lost dog turning out to be a guardian, again, really not a surprise, standard kinda formula.

but then we get to the final show down in the high school with the big bad aliens and it all comes together in some fun action scenes that are nicely put together.

The movie really isn’t groundbreaking, in any way, but I enjoyed it enough that I’d not only watch it again on DVD,

I’ll also go and watch the sequel, if they make one, and not just because I liked “number Six”… ;-)

Rating – 7/10

Miss-leading Email Subjects

It seems to me that some marketers are ge4tting more and more desperate to get people to open their emails, so much so that over the last few months there seems to be a whole spate of very miss-leading email subject line's used, they're getting so bad that they resemble spam...

In fact a lot of them are now getting marked as spam and "quarantined" by my spam filter system!

here's a few of the worst examples that I've seen over the last few months, but please feel free to post a comment and share any that I've missed that you particularly dislike!

Miss-leading Email Subjects that I hate: -

1. Your trial subscription has been canceled

2. Congratulations ,Claim Your Cleared eCheck Payment

3. Ticket no 4JK94U - Outstanding Affiliate Commissions

4. Your Order Is Complete

5. Notification of Payment Received

6. Payment Refund...

7. Payment Notification

8. Your PayPal Account Deposit

9. Your Friday Paycheck Is In

10. Your Password, [your name]

11. RE: Response Required (private)

12. (Personal)

13. RE: [your email address]

14. RE: Your Account

15. RE: Response Required (private)

16. RE: Download link expired?

17. RE: YOUR ACCOUNT IS CONFIRMED

18. re: Your Order Is Complete - Please Save This Email

19. Confirmed: Your First sale online...

20. Request for free access has been approved

22. Congratulations: You have $770 GUARANTEED commission now!

23. Message from: Notification::PayPal sent you $7,200 USD

24. Your Download (Expiring Soon)

25. $150 PayPal Payment Delivery - Expiration Notice

that's a pretty long list, and it didn't take me long trawling through my emails to create it, AND I missed out quite a few...

So which do you think is the worst?

or are, like me, do you just find them all damned irritating..?

Leave a comment below and let me know...

I will admit I'm not perfect and occaisionally an email subject line slips through that's not as accurate or descriptive as it should be, but I try to stick to subject line's that actually give readers a good idea of what's going to be covered in the email.

I believe it makes it easier for my readers to quickly decide whether an email is going to be of interest to them, whereas using one of these "tricky" style subject line's is more likely to potentially end up wasting their time, and subsequently irritating them...

but there is a another reason I prefer use descriptive, and generally keyword based, subject lines...

I also tend to use many of the emails I write as the content for a blog post on one of my blogs as well, so having the keywords in the subject gives me the best title to use for the blog post to attract Targeted visitors, '2 birds with one stone' as the old saying goes...

If you want to have a spam system that will catch these kind of emails and quarantine them for you, then I can highly recommend the one I've used for the last 7 or 8 years - SpamArrest

Men and shopping..

Proof of what can happen if a wife or girlfriend drags her husband or
boyfriend along shopping

This letter was (apparently) recently sent by Tesco’s Head Office to a customer in
Oxford.

Dear Mrs. Murray,

While we thank you for your valued custom and use of the Tesco Loyalty
Card, the Manager of our store in Banbury is considering banning you and
your family from shopping with us, unless your husband stops his antics.
Below is a list of offences over the past few months all verified by our
surveillance cameras:

1. June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people’s
trolleys when they weren’t looking.

2. July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute
intervals.

3. July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to feminine
products aisle.

4. July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official tone,
“Code 3″ in housewares….. and watched what happened.

5. August 14: Moved a ‘CAUTION – WET FLOOR’ sign to a carpeted area.

6. September 15: Set up a tent in the outdoor clothing department and
told shoppers he’d invite them in if they would bring sausages and a Calor
gas stove.

7. September 23: When the Deputy Manager asked if she could help him, he
began to cry and asked, “Why can’t you people just leave me alone?”

8. October 4: Looked right into the security camera; used it as a
mirror, picked his nose, and ate it.

9. November 10: While appearing to be choosing kitchen knives in the
Housewares aisle asked an assistant if he knew where the antidepressants
were.

10. December 3: Darted around the store suspiciously, loudly humming the
“Mission Impossible” theme.

11. December 6: In the kitchenware aisle, practised the “Madonna look”
using different size funnels.

12. December 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed, yelled
“PICK ME!” “PICK ME!”

13. December 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker,
assumed the foetal position and screamed “NO! NO! It’s those voices again.”

And; last, but not least:

14. December 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door, waited a
while;   then yelled, very loudly, “There is no toilet paper in here.”

Yours
sincerely,

John Doe
Store Manager
